British Voice Actor
My experience
Since starting out in the world of voiceover back in 2000, it's been interesting to watch my Paul Berry CV slowly unfold with new jobs and new clients. Yes, I do get the same production companies and freelancers coming back for British male voiceover artist jobs but it's even more rewarding when new clients get in contact and ask for demos.
TV Commercials
It took a while but I remember the first TV commercial I voiced being quite exciting. Up until then I had mainly voiced online corporate vides, on-hold and e-learning projects, so hearing my voice on mainstream TV was a bit of a boost to a relatively unknown British voice actor such as myself. Since then of course I've featured on a few TV and satellite commercials including ScS, Lavazza and Riso Gallo.
Character Work
Online work remains a key part of my day to day voice work but I do get some character work, too. I've been recording Santa voiceovers for around ten years now and they are always a lot of fun to work on. One of the most enjoyable was for Sunshine Mobile which featured an animated story about a damaged mobile phone. The script was really well written like a poem. Another fun voice job was a '12 days of Christmas' song about recycling. I had to voice 12 different characters! Halloween jobs are also another good laugh but these don't seem as common now.
What sort of voice do you need?
If you have a project that needs a voiceover then you may be thinking 'where on earth do I start?' Well, I will be very honest with you if I don't feel I'm suitable for the task in hand. For example, I'm not the British voice actor you need when it comes to teen voices and if you are after a Ray Winstone or Vinnie Jones type hard-man voice then I'll advise that you are best looking elsewhere....but for most other scripts, I am happy to supply a sample read of part of your script so you can hear for yourself if I am up for the challenge.
